1. METFORMIN 

Metformin HCL 

Indications:

Type 2 diabetes mellitus

Can be given alone or in combination

Dosage/How to use:

Adults: 500 mg (one tablet) three times per day, then adjust after 10 to 15 days

Children above 10 years: 500mg (one tablet) once daily, adjust after 10-15 days 

Note: The maximum recommended dose in pediatrics is 2g daily in 2 or 3 divided doses.

2. MELMET-1000 SR

Metformin 1000mg sustained-release tablet 

Indications:

Type 2 diabetes mellitus

Should be administered after food for better absorption

Contraindications

Renal failure, Congestive heart failure, Known hypersensitivity to metformin,

Acute or Chronic metabolic acidosis, Avoid during pregnancy or lactation

Side effects

Anorexia, Nausea, and Diarrhoea

Dosage/How to use:

The usual starting dose is one tablet of Melmet SR 500mg once daily, May be adjusted up to 1000mg.

Indications:

Type 2 diabetes mellitus

Can be given alone or in combination

Metformin-denk 500mg:

Metformin-denk 850mg:

Adults & Adolescents: 1 tablet per day .

4. AMARYL M/MR

Metformin 500mg + glimepride 2mg

Indications:

Type 2 diabetes mellitus

When diabetes is not controlled by one form of medication

Dosage/How to use:

Children<17 years: Not recommended.

5. GALVUS MET

Metformin + Vildagliptin

Available in different coated form(500mg/50mg, 850mg/50mg, 1000mg/50mg)

Indications:

Type 2 diabetes mellitus

When diabetes is not controlled by one form of medication

Dosage/How to use:

Adults & Adolescents: 1-2 tablets per day 

Note: A Doctor may adjust based on the patient's response to medication.

6. DIAMICRO

Glicrazide 60mg

Indications:

Type 2 diabetes mellitus

Can be given alone or in combination

Dosage/How to use:

7. INSULIN

Insulin rapide or lente

Indications:

Type 2 or Type 1 diabetes mellitus

Dosage/How to use:

ACTIRAPID (Fast-acting insulin):

0.3-1 IU/kg/day. Adjustments depend on patient response

MIXTARD 30/70 (Intermediate-acting insulin):

0.3-1 IU/kg/day. Adjustments depend on patient response

INSULATARD (Long-acting insulin):

0.3-1 IU/kg/day. Adjustments depend on patient accommodation to medication.

8. GLYSET

Glimepiride 1mg and 4 mg

Indications:

Type 2 diabetes mellitus

it can be given alone or in combination

Dosage/How to use:

Adults & Adolescents: 

1-2mg PO qAM after breakfast, may increase the dose by 1-2 mg every 1-2 weeks. Not to exceed 8 mg/day.

Pediatric: Safety and efficacy not established.
